This feature is available starting from Thunderbird 91, soon available for download from (until then, try it in Thunderbird 91 beta). You need to create these preferences and set them to your preferred format. Thunderbird's date and time format override preferences will allow you to apply date and time formats which are different and independent of those defined by the regional localizations available in your operating system or Thunderbird. So if you are looking for an easy way to clarify your dates and times without resorting to Swedish regional settings, Thunderbird's date and time format override preferences will come in handy.Ĭreate date and time format override preferences using Thunderbird's Config Editor Similarly, the English time 12 PM might leave many guessing if that's 12 noon or 12 midnight. Whilst such regional formats might be well understood in their original regions, they can be ambiguous in international contexts, for example due to the inversion of day and month in English, or (if you're used to that) the absence of inversion in German, and the strange dots in between. Thunderbird will then format date and time according to your regional choice, for example: Intl.regional_e_os_locales = false (modified: Use current Application locale of Thunderbird) Intl.regional_e_os_locales = true (default: Use Regional Settings locale of operating system) This will reflect in the underlying Thunderbird preference: If you can make it through the export and import from Outlook, I highly recommend Mozilla Thunderbird as your next email client.Note: You need to restart Thunderbird for any changes to date and time formats to take effect!

I’m also happy to report that I don’t have to change my font from the default Outlook blue each time. The search features have really helped me stay organized and find past emails within seconds. Since the move, Thunderbird has been an amazing tool. Drag and drop all the emails into the New Folder under your account at the top.Click on the first email, then hold shift and press End.Under Local Folders, go into the matching folder.Under your account, right click and select New Folder.Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to drag and drop the entire folder but this method did the trick. The import will run and create Outlook folders under Local Foldersįinally, I wanted to move the recently imported folders to a new location in Thunderbird.Select the Outlook directory from your desktop.Tools > ImportExportTools > Import all messages from a directory > also from its subdirectories.ImportExport will now show under Extensions.

Once you’re done, double-click on Directory (File System) under Saved profiles.Click Browse and select your Desktop as the Target Folder.Select EML Files and ensure “All Folders” is selected.Click on Directory (File System) under E-mail Files. This will run the backup and process each email. The below method did work after some trial and error.įirst, we need to export the emails from Outlook in the correct format. Even after downgrading to version 31, I could not get it to work. The Outlook import method has been disabled in Thunderbird since version 31. To actually import the mail, we’ll have to use two third party programs. Under Server Settings, change “Check for new messages every” to 1 minute. Email from the server will start to download.
